Mildred Marie Brittain Lasick, 91, of Fruitland passed on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Abbey Manor Assisted Living in Elkton. Born in Missouri she was the daughter of the late Ira Exie John Brittain and Almeda Pearl Edwards Brittain.
After only one week of courtship Mildred and Walter married and remained loving and faithful for 69 years until his passing in 2015. She was extremely proud to be the first woman lieutenant in Prince George’s County Maryland Sherriff’s Department. She was crafty, adventurous, and a lover of life. She was a loving mother who taught her children many life skills and to love the Lord.
She is survived by four children, Waltera McCall and her husband Kirk of Chambersburg, PA, Carol Marie Wagner and her husband Dave of Matthews, NC, Mary Pearl Lane of Fruitland, MD, and John Albert Lasick of Bowie, MD; seven grandchildren, Greg, Richard, Paul, Eric, Stephanie, Jennifer, and Leighann; ten great-grandchildren, Mellissa, Caitlin, Cody, Hannah, Auston, Patrick, Cassidi, Joseph, Amelia, and Gracie Lynn; sister, Mary Mae Baker; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter in 2015.
A Celebration of Mildred’s Life will be held Saturday at 1pm at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury. Interment will follow in Springhill Memory Gardens. Friends may visit Friday evening from 6pm-8pm and Saturday from 12pm-1pm at the funeral home.
