Mervin Sturgis Disharoon, 96, of Salisbury passed away, Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at his home. Born in Snow Hill he was the son of the late Levin Wilson and Clara Sturgis Disharoon. Mervin was a United States WWII Army Air Corp Veteran. He met and married Doris Bocook in 1948 and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage until her passing in 2011. A loving husband and father he enjoyed spending time and traveling all over the country with his family. He was employed by Suburban Propane Gas Company for over 40 years retiring as regional manager. He was a lifelong member of The BPOE Elks where he enjoyed golfing. He is survived by his children, Mary Charlotte Holsinger, Thomas Wilson Disharoon and his wife Barbara, and Mervin S. Disharoon, Jr. and his wife Vickie; grandchildren and step-grandchildren, Andy Holsinger and his wife Lindsay and their daughters Ava and Alayna; Richard Disharoon, Thomas Disharoon, Hunter Disharoon, Joseph Disharoon, Mervin Thomas Disharoon and his wife Jamie, David Bowling and his children Kaylee, Kaden, and Liam, and Jacob Bowling and Joshua Bowling; and several nieces and nephews and their children. In addition to his wife Doris he was preceded in death by a son, Richard Arnold Disharoon in 1975. A funeral service will be held Saturday at 1pm at Bounds Funeral Home on East Main Street in Salisbury where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Parsons Cemetery.
