Joyce Lee Lawson, 86, of Chincoteague Island peacefully passed on Friday, April 1, 2022 at The Commonwealth Senior Living in Onancock, Virginia. Born May 24, 1935 in Washington, DC she was the daughter of the late James C. Fisher, Sr. and Viola Harper Fisher.
She was retired from Alton Insurance Company in Crystal City, Virginia. Along with her husband Lou, she loved to travel overseas. Together Joyce and Lou owned and operated Bay Treasures, an antique and nautical item shop located on Main Street in Chincoteague. As the customers visited the shop, Joyce was able to chat with each one of them personally.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Terry Lawson and grandson, Robert Lawson and his wife Caitlin. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Louis “Lou” L. Lawson in 2018; sons, Dwayne Lawson in 2008 and Gary Lawson in 2015; grandson, Christopher Lawson in 2019; and her brother, James Carlton Fisher, Jr. in 2022.
Joyce will be laid to rest on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 2 pm in the Garden of Crucifixion alongside her family at Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, Maryland.
