Donald Leonard Bowden, age 89, passed away peacefully at Coastal Hospice of Salisbury MD. on April 6, 2025. He was one of seven children born to the late Viola and Louis Bowden of Chincoteague VA. Donald was born and raised on Chincoteague Island and graduated from Chincoteague High School. After graduation he joined the U.S. Air Force and proudly served his country for 20 years. His military service included assignments in England, the Belgium Congo Africa and Vietnam in addition to those in the United States. He was a social person who enjoyed visiting with friends and family and was known to strike up a conversation with whoever may be nearby. He enjoyed the beach, fishing, NASCAR, football, country music, good food and drink. He will be missed by many. He is survived by his wife, Gail of Salisbury MD, son, Wayne Bowden (Kathleen) of Williamsburg VA, grandson, Jack Bowden of Fairfax VA, daughter, Elaina Mullininx (David) of Atlanta GA, granddaughter, Lauren Mullininx of Atlanta GA, stepdaughters, Tammy Rosanova of Chincoteague VA and Loretta Reed Donovan of Milford DE, niece, Cynthia Mears of Salisbury MD.
A Military Committal will be held Friday, April 11, 2025, at 2:30 at Springhill Memory Gardens in Hebron. The United States Air Force will serve as pallbearers.
