David Allen Massie

David Allen Massie, 63, of Salisbury, MD, passed away at home on Monday November 7, 2022. David was born in Richmond, VA on Feb. 23, 1959 to the late Harry and Margaret (Carwile) Massie. Three brothers – Harry, John, and Cecil Massie – preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by a half sister, Ruth (Massie) Moon, one nephew, Carl “Buster” Karnes, and two nieces, Vanessa Karnes and Lilah Jarratt.

David was raised by loving foster parents, John White, Sr., and Mary (Southard) White, with whom he lived from the age of 12 months to 26 years old. He graduated from Armstrong High School in Richmond and received his Associate's degree in Funeral Service from John Tyler Community College in Chester, VA. David worked at Pleasant's Hardware and Harper Hardware in Richmond, and later in the Transportation Dept. of Perdue Farms in Salisbury, MD.

In 1997, David moved to Salisbury and married Donna Hirst Snow. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Massie, a stepson, Stephen Snow of Silver Spring, MD, two brothers, Paul (Fay) Massie, and Roger (Carol) Massie, and many nieces and nephews.

David had an unfailing sense of humor, a welcoming smile and an eagerness for lifelong learning. He lived a life of humility, gratitude, open mindedness and respect for all. He enjoyed playing guitar and keyboard, studying history, exploring politics and hanging out with his dog, Snoopy. His early interest in writing novels eventually evolved into record setting emails as he enjoyed staying in touch with loved ones. He was a devout Christian throughout his life, and his faith and devotion became increasingly strong during his final years.

A celebration of his life will be held Monday, January 16, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Remson United Methodist Church, 4249 Sheephouse Rd, Pocomoke City, MD 21851. A luncheon will follow at the church immediately following the service.
