Bobby J. Elswick, age 71, passed away at home October 11, 2023 surrounded by immediate family. Bobby, originally born in Richlands, VA, was preceded in death by his father Dexter Elswick, his mother Lillian Elswick Barr, and his brother Issac B. Elswick.
The beloved is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Rhonda F. Elswick of Parsonsburg, MD, his daughter and son-in-law, Brittany and Michael Altekruse, granddaughter, Arya Altekruse, mother-in-law, Catherine Barlowe, stepmother, Rita Farmer, brother, Burley Slate, sister-in-law, Terri Coulbourne and Robert, sister-in-law, Darlene Culver and Bill, nephew and niece, Mick and Alexis Tindall, several aunts, an uncle, and nephews, and his childhood best friend, Bill Hamblin.
Upon graduation from Pittsville High School as Valedictorian, Bobby served as a 1st Sergeant in the Maryland Army National Guard for 24 years where he served in Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm. He worked for J. Roland Dashiell and Gillis Gilkerson, Inc. as a Superintendent before retirement. Bobby was a member and Commander of Powellville VFW Post 2996, a member of the American Legion, the Moose, Cooties and past member of the Lions Club and Elks.
His past times included attending NASCAR races, playing softball and soccer in his youth, fishing, watching the Dallas Cowboys, volunteering at Perry Point, VA hospital, always offering a helping hand to anyone in need and spending time with his granddaughter.

A graveside service with Military Honors will be held Monday, October 16, 2023 at 1pm at Pittsville Cemetery in Pittsville. Pastor Greg Morris will officiate.
