Barbara Lee Banks, 88, of Ocean City, Maryland, died Thursday August 4, 2022 while at home with her devoted son, Richard, by her side. Born December 5, 1933 in Fruitland, she was the daughter of the late Maurice A. Carmine and Edna E. Carmine. She and her late husband, Phillip H. Banks celebrated 30 years of marriage before his passing in 2005.
Barbara was a graduate of Wicomico High School, class of 1951. She was a skilled accountant having been employed by the Bank of Fruitland, Banks Convenience Stores and was instrumental in the success of the Oceanic Fishing Pier in Ocean City, Maryland.
In her free time Barbara, an avid reader, enjoyed walks in the ocean air and visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Above all she was a huge New York Yankees baseball fan, rarely missing a televised game.
She is survived by a son, Richard A. Perry, Jr. of Ocean City and three daughters, Debra L. (Bud) Taylor of Del Ray Beach, Florida, Cathy E. Baker of Ocean Pines, Maryland and Cindy P. (Mike) Glidewell of York, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Sage (Jessica) Baker, Chelsea (Bo) Eaton, Scott (Aviva) Glidewell, Ali (Chris) Gilliam, Kara (Flint) Wimert, and Orrie Perry; ten great grandchildren, Cayden, Bridge, Vail, Wyatt, Natalie, Isaac, Olivia, Audrey, Evan and Nora.
Barbara was the proud stepmother to Phillip Banks, Jr. of Cordova, Maryland; Dawn Jarmol and Dana Banks both of Ocean View, Delaware.
Barbara is, also, survived by three siblings, Richard Carmine, Paul Carmine and Linda Smith. She was preceded in death by two other siblings, Shirley Perry and Judy Stephens.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 21st, 2022 at 11:00am at Bounds Funeral Home, where friends and family may visit one hour prior.
