William (Bill) Jerome Wilson October 11, 1935 - December 28, 2011
SALEM - William (Bill) Jerome Wilson, family name Jerry, died peacefully at 76 years old.
Born in Fort Lewis, Washington the second child of Joe and Maude Wilson who have preceded him in death.
Bill attended Concordia High School in Portland and attended and graduated from North Salem High School in 1955.
Throughout his life Bill was a vocalist performing at many functions, involved in YMCA Indian Guides with his three children, active in Salem Garden Club, was an active carver in the Capitol Wood Carvers and retiree from Oregon State Hospital.
In his later years he pursued his Native American heritage with interests in counseling, teaching, creating and making regalia, beading, involved in the Native Veterans National Guard, and registering in the Cherokee Nation Tribe taking the name Chief White Eagle.
He was an ordained minister for the the Native Americans.
He is survived by sisters Maudrey Reitzenstein of Vancouver, Washington, Janene Allman (Russ) of Salem, and brother Bruce Wilson (Julie) of Keizer, children Marc, Michael, Melinda, and five grand children.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, February 4th 2012 at St. John Lutheran Church, 14th and Court Street in Salem, Oregon.
In lieu of flowers a donation to our favorite charity in Bill's name would be appreciated.
