SALEM – William F. “Bill” Glaser died April 20, 2010 in Salem at the age of 77. He was born on October 2, 1932 in Washington, Missouri to William Glaser and Edna (Stumpe) Glaser Hancock.
Bill attended school in Kansas City, MO and graduated from High School in 1950. Upon graduation Bill joined the U.S. Navy in 1950 and served aboard the U.S.S. Estes until 1954. After his military service Bill worked for Oremet and Teledyne Wah Chang in Albany OR. On April 1, 1973 he married Jean Small Klassen in Reno, Nevada. He later attended classes at Oregon State and worked in Auto Sales and as a Realtor. After working for Wah Chang for a total of 22 years Bill retired in 1999.
Bill was also a member of the Elks Lodge in Albany, OR and a member of the First Church of The Nazarene in Salem. He enjoyed bowling, dancing and taking cruises. Bill had a great sense of humor and enjoyed joking with friends. Bill had a good disposition and was a kind, honest and generous man. He loved his wife and his family very much. Bill was delighted by the way his wife cared for him when he was so ill. Bill made a difference to so many especially in helping raise his seven stepchildren. He was inspired by his wonderful heart, kidney and lung doctors. Bill’s dream was seeing his granddaughter graduate from High School.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Jean Glaser, of Salem, his sister, Lois Wolcott, of Wichita, KS, his stepchildren; Dennis Klassen, Tony Klassen, Carolyn LaCrosse, Jody Job, Connie Klassen, Janice Sunderland, and Candice Spencer, grandchildren; Katie, Charley, Seth and Tabitha, Scott, Mandy, Tyler, Karisa, Holly, and Kyle, nieces; Susan, Karen and Linda, nephews; David and Stephen.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Norma.
A Memorial Service for Bill will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday May 8 at the First Nazarene Church, 1550 Market St. NE, Salem.
