Wanda Frances Stombaugh

Wanda Cleland Stombaugh, age 63 of Salem Oregon, passed away September 27th, 2017. She passed with her loved ones by her side. Wanda courageously fought a long, hard battle with breast cancer. In true Wanda fashion, she waited until all her children were present to say her final goodbye.

Wanda was born to Burton and Francis Cleland on April 6th, 1954. She was the middle of three children. Wanda enjoyed spending time playing with her grandchildren, shooting billiards with her friends, and going to the beach with her fiancé Jerry.

Wanda spent 25 years harassing clients at Salem Park Veterinary Clinic and they LOVED every minute of it. Wanda enjoyed taking care of everyone around her, and for many she was considered a second ‘mom’. She loved animals, handing out nicknames, being the “favorite” of people in her life, and receiving gifts!

Wanda is survived by her fiancé Jerry Edwards, her daughter Cori Mielke and husband Noah, her son Travis Stombaugh and his fiancé Melanie, and her daughter Kasey Stombaugh and her fiancé Basem. She is also survived by her older sister Donna Middleton and husband Charlie; as well as her younger brother, Van Cleland and his wife Helen. Wanda left behind six grandkids; Hunter (16), Colton (13), Aidan (13), Lola (9), Scarlet (8), and Keegan (6).

She also leaves behind other family that she cared a great deal for; her nieces and nephews, two grandnieces and her pets; Hubble, Fifi, Punkin, Grey Bear, and Natey.

Wanda and her family are eternally grateful to Dr. Kathleen Hanifen who spent several years letting Wanda think she was the boss.

As Wanda would always say “Call me when you get there”

Pastor Kate Conolly will officiate a celebration of Wanda’s meaningful life on Friday October 6th at Morningside United Methodist Church 3674 12th St SE Salem, OR 97302 at 11:00am. A reception will follow.
