Thomas Watson Ellis Jr., born November 18, 1946, in Billings, Montana, departed this life on April 17, 2024, at the age of 77. A resident of Salem, Oregon, he was the son of the late Thomas W. Ellis Sr. and Lorna Ellis and brother to the late John Ellis and Rosemary Robertson. His great-grandson John Hull also preceded him in death.
After graduating from Franklin High School in Portland, Oregon, Thomas devoted 15 years to serving his nation in the United States Air Force. He served as part of the 6912th Security Squadron in Berlin, Germany. His post-military career spanned two decades with the United States Post Office, where he not only served with distinction but also led his colleagues as the Local President of the Postal Workers Union. Even after retiring from the Post Office, Thomas continued to offer his expertise, working part-time as a tax preparer for Jackson Hewitt until 2012.
In faith and fellowship, Thomas was a committed member of the Trinity United Methodist Church where he worshiped and served the community. His personal interests included fishing, camping, and wholeheartedly supporting the various pursuits of his children and grandchildren.
Thomas's legacy endures through his beloved family: his wife of 58 years,Beverly; his daughter Vera Sims; his son and daughter-in-law, Troy and Sandy Ellis; his grandchildren, Kortnie Dicker, Devin Ellis, Troy Ellis Jr., Kylie Sims, Jeffrey Sims, Blaik Peruchetti, and Max Peruchetti; and his great-grandchildren, Ellie Hull and Skye Dicker.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Salem, Oregon at 10:30am on Saturday April 27th, 2024. The family welcomes memorial contributions to Agape Hospice NW or the food bank at Trinity United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
Thomas Watson Ellis Jr.'s unwavering dedication to his family, his tireless work ethic, and his warm-hearted spirit will be deeply missed and cherished in memory by all who knew him.
