Theodore “Ted” Alan Werth, 64, went to be with Jesus on August 25, 2023. He was born to Eugene and Alice (Tom) Werth on July 17th, 1959 in Salem, Oregon. He grew up in Springfield, Oregon and after high school attended Lane Community College where he received his associate degree in Electronic Engineering Technology. Moving on to Klamath Falls, he graduated from OIT with his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management. He was a member of the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, and following restoration in 1977 was the first tribal member to receive a college scholarship and graduate. His career in economic development began with the Siletz tribe, then CCD Corp in Roseburg. He finished his career retiring from the State of Oregon in December 2021.
Ted loved the outdoors. There was nowhere he’d rather be than on a creekside trail among the trees, fishing, rafting, watching the ocean waves or sitting next to a campfire with a good cup of hot black coffee.
Ted loved sports. Throughout his life you would most likely find him playing tennis, golfing, or on a softball field. He was a lifelong loyal Duck fan, attending his first football game at a young age. He happily spent most fall Saturdays at Autzen Stadium with the guys.
Ted loved his hobbies. He spent many hours behind the camera, in his yard, tending to his aquarium, building his telescope, reading, blogging, stargazing and birdwatching just to name a few.
But most of all, Ted loved people and was a reflection of the love his Lord and Savior showed him. He lived generously, cherishing time spent with his family and friends. He had a heart for young people, coaching boys basketball, mentoring in youth correctional facilities, and investing in foster teens.
Ted is survived by his wife Cheryl, his daughter Lisa and son Timothy, along with his brothers Stan and Jim, sisters Gloria and Kathryn, and numerous nieces and nephews.
