Tammy Lee Stillwell

November 13, 1963 – July 5, 2015

Tammy Lee Stillwell (Smith – Baltazar) of Langley, WA was called home to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after sustaining injuries during an event over the 4th of July weekend, near Salem, OR. She was born to James Smith and Carol McCarty on November 13, 1963 and grew up in the Seattle and Mt. Lake Terrace communities.

She attended Seattle area public schools and graduated from Ballard High School with academic honors in 1981. Throughout her school years she was very active in the music programs and mastered many instruments and played in concert, jazz and marching bands. She attended NW Business College where she attained an Associates degree. She later returned to college and received a B.S. in Emergency Management from American Public University in 2013. She was employed at Boeing Commercial Airplane Company during the 1990s and provided support in the 777 test integration and flight training simulation arenas. She left Boeing in the late 1990s and joined Microsoft Corp as a test engineer. While at Microsoft she utilized her flight simulation experience from Boeing and made contributions in the development of Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator. In 2005 she returned to Boeing and provided engineering support in the 787 Dreamliner program for the test integration group. In 2009 she transferred out of engineering and began a new career in emergency management at the Boeing Everett plant. In 2012 she began consulting independently and worked with the Island County Emergency Management office, Snohomish County Emergency Management and City of Everett Emergency Management offices.

She devoted many hours in the spring of 2014 helping the survivors of the tragic Oso, WA mudslide. Her most recent work was with Seattle Public Utilities. Tammy was a dedicated philanthropist and a tireless volunteer. Her volunteer hours were spent with the Terrace-Brier Soccer Club; Seattle Sounders Soccer (pre-MLS); Boeing Classic Golf Tournament, Seattle International Church, American Red Cross, Jet City Roller Girls, Seattle Seafair, Cameron Highlanders of the Northwest, 1st Oregon Cavalry. She continues to give at end of her life as an anatomical organ donor.

Tammy’s hobbies included crochet, riding motorcycles, Civil War re-enacting, her horse Maxx and traveling the Caribbean islands on cruise ships.

Tammy was a born again Christian and devoted time singing and playing saxophone in two area worship bands.

She is survived by her husband of 10 years, Bret Stillwell of Langley, WA. Sons Anthony Baltazar (Everett), Charlie Baltazar (Seattle). Step-children Sam and Savannah Stillwell (Portland, OR). Brother Tim Abel of Seattle.

A memorial service for all friends and family will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 18 at Joli Farms Quarter Horse Company near Freeland WA. A funeral service with 19th Century Military honors and traditions will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 19 at Fort Vancouver, Vancouver, WA at 3:00.
