Hi, my deepest condolences to Steve's family.  I worked with Steve for many years and served on several committees, and he was always on top of his game. He will truly be missed. Rest in peace Steve.

Steve taught me most of what I know about our campus energy system, and deeply believed in the importance of supporting student learning through FHDA-CCD facilities and energy data. He was always smart, supportive, and often funny. He will be missed.

I am really sad to hear of my friend and colleague, Steve Schmidt’s passing.  My prayers go out to his family and friends.  Steve was such a good person willing to help anyone he could. He was a kind soul who shined brightly. He always went above and beyond the Call of Duty. Steve practically ran Plant Services for the Foothill-DeAnza Community College District.  The Director’s and Administrator’s leaned on him heavily for everything. They were lost when he left, and eventually had to divide his responsibilities among three people. They never did find anyone who can do the job that Steve did.  You wouldn’t know it by talking with him because he was so humble, and made light of every situation presented to him.  Steve was the ultimate team player.  He was our Union Negotiator and Board Member as well. Steve was very practical. He made decisions based on what was good for everyone.  His unselfishness was second to none. We will always be grateful to him for paving the way for many of us still working, and in retirement.  Steve will always be remembered for the wonderful person he was.  He had a great sense of humor to go along with a great laugh.  And till we meet again Steve, rest peacefully knowing you did what the Good Lord asked of you, and you did it very well. God Bless You, and thanks for all the memories..🙏🙏🙏

Remembering all the Friday night dinners all over Monterey and the  Christmas trips , somewhere new every year. 
Steve always knew something about everything, he was really a smart guy with a great sense of humor. 
He loved his animals and now I hope he gets to see them again 

First and foremost when I think of Steve it's his belief in God and the Bible he knew the Bible forward and backwards and could talk about the Bible endlessly. Very intelligent and he had a Charming personality his infectious laugh with his funny sense of humor you couldn't help but laugh. He had a helpful and giving heart an eager to help with anything you asked him to do.

I knew Steve from work where he seemed quiet and shy at first.  In time, he opened up a bit and was friendly and kind. 
I knew him to be a hard worker and was very good at his craft. He would always do his best to solve whatever issue I had and I had many.
He could be silly and had a good sense of humor and a nice smile.
He will be missed .

Steve may have lost his way but through it all he served the Body of Christ in many unheralded ways.  I will miss my friend.



I will miss the laughs we had about our service time.  Steve always had a great grasp of the political situiation and could always explain with humor the outcome of the situiation.  We worked together and tried to make logical sense of the problems  we faced...with humor.  Your time here was not wasted ....just a bit short. Remembering the laughs!
