Shirley was born to Stanley and Edna Thacker on March 6, 1932 in Grimsby, England and grew up during World War II. She moved to the United States in her early twenties.
In 1973, Shirley met Michael deLuse and in the summer of 1976, they relocated to the Willamette Valley from Lake Tahoe. Throughout the years, they converted a cinder-block milk barn into a two-story English Tudor home, complete with lampposts, a fountain with topiary trees, and finally a restful pond with a lovely bench to sit on. They loved to travel and were able to do so extensively. In 2006, after 30 years, they decided to sell "the farm" and moved into a brand new home in Albany, Oregon. After 37 years together, Mike passed away in 2010.
Shirley was talented in so many genres: chef, artist, master gardener, mentor, mother, friend, and more. She was exquisitely industrious.
Shirley is survived by three daughters, four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
...and we miss her...
A celebration of life for Shirley will be held Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Willamette Lutheran Retirement Community, 7693 Wheatland Rd N, Keizer, OR 97303.
