Shirley Ann (Yoder) Deckard was born on February 2, 1936, in Pittsburg, PA to Leo and Martha Yoder. She passed away, surrounded by husband and family, on April 2, 2023. Before her first birthday Shirley’s mother died and she was raised by her Grandmother Audrey Hinshaw in Indianapolis, IN. In Indianapolis she attended Shortridge High school and graduated from Butler University, majoring in Accounting. She was an active member of Tabernacle Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis and met her husband Noble in Sunday school. They were married at the church on September 1, 1956.
Throughout the years Shirley and her husband lived in several states and Shirley was always active in Presbyterian and Christian churches using her accounting and administrative skills in service to each of them. Shirley’s joy came from loving and caring for her family which she did without reservation. She also enjoyed sewing, using it to care for her family as well. She will be remembered by all for her love and devotion to her Lord and Savior.
She is survived by her husband Noble; son Dwayne (Danice) Liberty Lake, WA; daughter Martha Wildfang Keizer; sister Ann (Tim) Dempsey of Fort Wayne, IN; granddaughter Sarah Deckard Spokane Valley, WA; granddaughter Laura (Sam) Hekman Keizer; grandson Cort Wildfang Keizer. She was preceded in death by her son Jeffrey Deckard (April, 1994) in Gainesville, FL.
Visitation will be on Thursday April 27, 2023 from 3 to 7 pm at Virgil T Golden Funeral Service 605 Commercial St. SE Salem,OR. Private family burial will be on Friday April 28, 2023 at Claggett Cemetery, Keizer. A Celebration-of –Life service will be held Saturday April 29, at 2 pm at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 1770 Baxter Rd. SE Salem, OR.
In –lieu of flowers donations may be made to your church, or the charity of your choice, Shirley was an avid giver to many of them.
