Sarah has gone home to be with her Lord Jesus. She was preceded in death by her parents Nicholas and Olga Gerig and her eight sisters and one brother. Sarah grew up in the Fruitland area near Salem Oregon and graduated from Salem High School in 1938. She met her husband Joseph Ditchen of 71 years in the strawberry fields of North Howell and got married October 10th 1945. Sarah is survived by her husband Joe, three children: son; Jerry (Evelyn), son; Denny (Linda), and daughter; Sandie Bagdriwicz (Paul); five grandchildren: Todd Ditchen (Jenn), Darcy McCulloch (Jeff), Dustin Ditchen (Stacey), Joey Bagdriwicz, and Sarah Bagdriwicz; and five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Sarah loved homemaking, gardening, and canning while enjoying her life on the family farm. She was devoted to her husband, family, and her Lord and Savior. Sarah attended Salem First Church of the Nazarene for over 40 years.

A Celebration of Sarah’s life will be held on Friday, August 4th at 11:00 am at Salem First Church of the Nazarene, 1550 Market St NE, Salem 97301. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to Salem First Church of the Nazarene or Serenity Hospice.
