Salem – Richard was born to Frank S. and Nellie M. Pace-Morgan in Louella, Sask. Growing up in remote Sask. gave Richard and his brother, Frances plenty of opportunity to construct backyard projects and whet his appetite for the future work to come. Becoming a naturalized citizen in time for the Second World War, Richard served in the US Army to the end of the war as a Sgt. serving in the Pacific Theater. Losing his brother Frances to enemy sniper fire, he was then weft with siblings Fern, Irene, Glen and Fred.
After returning from the war, Richard attended Willamette University in Salem, then graduated from OSU with a degree in engineering. At about the same time, Ruth Turpin of Salem became his bride and they returned to Salem. Richard L. Morgan II was born 2/5/1948 and in 1980 had a son Adam, who produced a son Drake. They reside in Seattle with Drake’s mother, Shannon.
Although divorced in the early 1970’s, Ruth and Richard remained very good friends and parents. Eventually, Richard met Jeaneen Coldwell and they wed Aug. 12, 2009. Jeaneen has three daughters, Lisa, Lori and Lynette, and several wonderful grandchildren.
Of additional note is the fact that one of Jeaneen’s granddaughters, Erica, who is an RN in Salem, provided invaluable assistance and care to the entire family through this time. Thank you, Erica.
