Pat was born on August 19, 1945, in San Francisco, CA. He met Connie in Marin County, CA in 1963. His career began right out of St. Mary’s College as a bank trust officer and a few years later a Vice President in a financial organization, both in San Francisco. In the early 70s Pat & Connie’s faith journey took them to a small Assemblies of God church in Dublin, CA where he felt a call into full-time ministry as an associate pastor. Pat served there for 8 years (during an enormous growth period) before answering another call to serve as the President of Church Extension Plan from 1982 to 2016. CEP is a financial ministry that serves thousands of churches across the country and grew significantly under his leadership. Pat served in the United States Air Force in the reserves and later received two master’s degrees, one in business administration and one in religion. He served on the boards of numerous organizations across the country, and most recently served as the Finance Director at Peoples Church where he and his family have been members since 1982.
Patrick was deeply devoted to his family and was intent on leaving a legacy through each one of them. Patrick is survived by his wife, Connie; his four sons and wives Peter, Edward (Ned) and Celeste’, Daniel and Gretchen, and Caleb and Heather; and his 12 grandchildren and three grand-daughters-in-law: Andrew, Spencer (Korri), Elijah (Erika), Jackson (Nadara), Micah, Samuel, Leah, Luke, Allison, Emily, Adelyn, and Charlie. On the day before his passing, Patrick had the opportunity to spend moments with each member of his family and give them a personal blessing.
Patrick was known for his analytical mind, decisive nature, and unwillingness to settle for mediocrity. He had a motto that reads, “Whatever it takes, no matter what.” Patrick was a close follower of Jesus Christ and left this earth speaking the name of Jesus with a peace and certainty that he would soon meet the Lord he served and loved.
Patrick’s celebration of life service will be held at Peoples Church at 4500 Lancaster Dr. NE, Salem on June 15th at 2:00 p.m. There will be a visiting time with the family beforehand from 12:00 – 1:30, and a light reception after the service.
Pat was a lifelong supporter of missions. In lieu of flowers, we encourage donations to Kingdom Builders, the missions arm of Peoples Church (Donate - Peoples Church (churchcenter.com) or https://peopleschurchsalem.churchcenter.com/giving/to/kingdom-builders).
