SALEM - Marilyn, 56, was born in Silverton, Oregon, to Robert and Elsie Tulare on Aug. 24, 1954. She lived her entire childhood in the same house in the Silverton Hills, graduating from Silverton High. The rest of her life she resided in Salem. Her 3 1/2 -year battle with cancer ended in Salem Hospital under the care of a loving staff. Special thanks from her husband to Chaplain David Watson who baptized Marilyn. Marilyn's 13-year employment at Spirit Mountain Casino gained her many close friends. She also worked in the banking industry. At times she would have 2-3 jobs at once to support her many craft hobbies: tope painting, crocheting, quilting, knitting and cross stitching, which were her passions. A new passion happened March 1, 2003 -she married Doug Gray in Salem, the love of her life! Her parents Robert and Elsie Tulare preceded Marilyn in death. Survivors include her loving husband, Doug Gray; stepchildren, Wayne (Whitney) Dawson of Salem, Oregon, Bob (Bon) Gray of Louisville, Kentucky, Bryan Gray of Louisville, Kentucky; brothers, Ronald W. (Kathy) Tulare of McKinney, Texas, Vernon L. and Hallie Tulare of Bend, Oregon; uncle, Charles (Bonnie) Tulare of Silverton, Oregon; and various nieces and nephews; many loving friends from Spirit Mountain Casino, Teresa, Starla, Denise, Lola, Darlene, Lynn, Ramona, and her boss Scott, just to mention a few; Doug's cousin, Kaneh; and longtime friends, Kathy, Mary and Carla. Let's not forget her kids - four Beagles, Lucy, Elliott, Adam and Oliver. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Oct. 22, 2010, at Belcrest Chapel in Salem, Oregon, at 1295 Browning Avenue S. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Society. She will be missed for her smile and love for her family and friends! Arrangements are by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom Funeral Directors
