Kenneth H. Smith passed away peacefully On February 4, 2014. He was born in Dallas Oregon to Cecil L. and Myrtle M. (Hayes) Smith. His father died when Ken was two and his sister Patricia was four. They were raised by Myrtle and their many aunts and uncles, especially Aunt Dode.
He was a Navy veteran serving during WWII. He met the only love of his life, Donna Marie Boyle and they were married on September 21, 1947 in Salem, OR.
They lived in Eugene and Salem and welcomed their first son Bruce on October 27, 1950. Their family was complete with the arrival of Norman on July 21, 1953.
Ken worked for Northland Lumber Co. before going to work at Polk County Federal S & L as a teller. He eventually became the CEO of the financial institution, which by then had changed to Family Federal S&L, where he remained until his retirement.
His greatest pleasure came from spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and celebrating life with anyone willing to show up. His generosity was surpassed only by his love for God. He measured people by their character and heart.
