On April 6, 2023 Kenneth Chapman went home to be with the Lord. Ken was born in Kansas City, Kansas on May 22,1947. Ken served in the US Army after graduating from high school in Long Beach, California. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran. After returning home from the service, he owned and operated a Mobil Service Station with his Dad, Bill Chapman, for many years. In February of 1969, he met the love of his life, Annemarie Edick and they were married August 16,1969. They were able to celebrate 54 years of marriage. Their lives together started in Southern California. They were the proud parents of three fun and amazing boys, Kenny, Tyler and Kevin Chapman. Along the way, we adopted three more children, Angel Chapman, Michael Maddox and Joel Greer. Our lives and hearts were full of life and love. He was so proud of all of them. Ken has a brother Martin who is 18 years younger than Ken and he fit in with those boys perfectly. Marty lives in Missouri with his beautiful wife and family. They were as close as any two brothers could be. After many years, Ken discovered he had a sister, Lori Lawrence that he had never met and she lived in Utah. They were able to meet one another and share stories about the father they shared and their lives growing up.
Ken had a wonderful relationship with his brother-in-law, Richard Edick. They were great friends and brothers for 54 years. They shared in all the love and the lives of our families.
As all of the boys grew,so did our family. Ken’s family was everything to him. He loved his 4 beautiful daughters-in law, Claudia, Torry, Rachel and Becky. His 7 grandchildren, Chase, Alexis, Nikki, Brenden, Jackson, Shelby and Allison. The newest additions were his great grandchildren, Avery, Daniel, Jayden, Mason and Carson. He felt truly blessed that God had allowed him to be the Dad and Grandpa to this amazing family.
In 1984, Ken was offered the position of K-Mart service manager in Salem, Oregon. He had accepted the job and over the next few years, three of our friends from California, with their young children, made the move with us to Salem Oregon. We blazed our own Oregon trail. We have all been friends for over 40 years and have added more precious friendships of many years now, along the way. Friends and family is what was most precious to Ken.
In 2016, after retirement, Ken and Anne headed out on the road trip of a lifetime. They traveled across the United States and up into Canada. It was an amazing adventure. They continued their travels for many years including a second road trip across the United States with our dear friends of 54 years, Ken and Ruth Miklaucic in 2018. A life long dream for them as well.
Ken loved the Lord. He was so grateful for all of the many blessings he received. His precious family, friends and a beautiful life that only God can provide.
