At 16 he started his twelve-year career at Mayfair Market grocery working his way from bagger to Assistant Manager. 1958, when he was 18, it was a big year for Jim. Nelda fondly remembers Jim coming home from work during his lunch hour and playing with Greg in his swimming pool at their S Salem home. They had their second son, Jeffrey Carl, in 1968. Soon after, he started his lifetime career at the Post Office. He retired in 2001 after 32 years. Jim loved tinkering, building things, helping his boys and working in the yard.
