On October 18th, 1926, in Palisades, Nebraska, Charles Virgil Morey & Jessie Mae Williams Morey brought their son Jack Vaughn into the world. Alongside him, were his oldest sister Irma, sister Elvira, brother Lewis, sister Luella and brother Otha.
In 1936, at the time of the depression, Jack’s parents sold almost everything they owned to purchase a new, 1936 Ford. They packed what little remained and moved to “the promised land”, Oregon.
Jack married Marceil Jewell Stewart on January 12th, 1957, at the First Baptist Church in Salem, OR., in the “fireplace room”. They were pillars in the church for over 60 years. Although Jack and Marceil didn’t have children of their own, they’d often say, “We’re blessed with so many children we taught in our Sunday School classes.”
Jack retired after working 37 years for Boise Cascade in Salem, Oregon where for most of his time, he worked in the Finishing Room.
Jack lived a beautiful life, singing and dancing along the way, telling incredible stories that would captivate you with his marvelous memory. He passed on September 5th, 2022, and is survived by his wife, Marceil.
