George Benedict passed away in Mt. Angel on Saturday at the age of 93. He was born August 18, 1918 in Klamath Falls, Oregon to Clarence and Mary Benedict. George graduated from the University of Southern Illinois with a degree in Engineering Physics and later furthered his education at the University of Southern California by taking some classes in Industrial and Labor Relations.
During World War II, George served in the Pacific Theater as a pilot for the Army Air Force. After the war he worked as a Recruiting and Employment Manager in New York City for North American Aviation. Later he moved his family to an 80-acre farm in Aurora, Oregon, and worked for the Oregon State Employment Division in Portland, Oregon.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine and his brother, Clarence. He is survived by his daughter, Karen (Jim) Breckenridge of Salem, and two grandchildren. Private inurnment will take place at Restlawn Memory Gardens. Arrangements by Howell-Edwards-Doerksen Funeral Home.
