Gary Ross Bettendorf

Gary was born on November 13, 1951 to Arlie and Delores Bettendorf in Portland, Oregon. While in grade school Gary moved with his family to Salem and attended Salem schools. After graduating from North Salem High School he entered the United States Navy, served on the USS Jason and was honorably discharged.

Gary worked for the Oregon Department of Veteran’s Affairs in the home loan program and then for Farm Credit Services as a credit officer where he met many fine people.

Upon retirement, he pursued his interest in flying which included a trip to EAA AirVenture Fly-In in Oshkosh, Wisconsin one summer in his bi-plane with his good friend and instructor, Dale Johnson.

Gary died unexpectedly December 13, His survivors include his wife Elizabeth, his sister Judy Rocque (Marc), his brother Henry (Nina), Aunt Lavonne Keck of Redmond, Oregon, niece MaryAnn Moody and nephew Jesse Moody, niece Tina (Tony) Hutchinson, nieces Sarah (Chris) Venerable and Laura (Chris) Johnson.

A Funeral Service will held at Virgil T. Golden Funeral Service on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 1:00pm.
