He was born on June 6, 1942 in Newberg, Oregon to Elsie and Emmanuel Meier. He grew up with four brothers, and one sister. Ed graduated from Newberg High School in 1960. He joined the Navy as a cook from 1961 to 1963 during the "Bay of Pigs/Cuban Conflict".
Ed went on to get a bachelor's degree for teaching in the joint degree program between George Fox College and Oregon College of Education. (He met Georgia McLeod at OCE, whom he married in 1969.) Ed taught for the Amity School District at the three room Ballston School as a 4th grade teacher, and the Dayton School District as a 6th grade teacher and media specialist. He was nominated as "Teacher of the Year" while at Dayton. Ed was an elementary principal at Christian Center Academy and Keizer Christian School. He was founder and principal of H.I.S. Academy for over 15 years. He was also an avid supporter of homeschooling families through H.I.S. Academy. Ed was an educator for more than 35 years. Even after retirement he taught driver education to eager teens desiring their driving license.
Ed was married to Georgia (McLeod) Meier for more than 53 years. They have two beautiful children and five amazing grandchildren! His relationship with Jesus was the foundation of his character. He was loved by many for his kindness, tenacity, and quick humor. He was an excellent writer and also played with words. Many still roll their eyes.
He loved gardening, cooking, reading, and his family. He will be remembered for his corny "dad" jokes and his love for Jesus. He was a good man and one of integrity. He touched the lives of many as he provided opportunity for their growth and salvation. He believed John 3:16-17: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved." Ed will be greatly missed!
