Salem ~ Dorothy Jean Moritz, 84, died Sunday night. Dorothy was born May 15, 1925 to Joseph and Blanche Howard, in Long Island, Kansas. The family then moved to Salem in 1941. She graduated 1943 from Salem High School. Dorothy married Harry Moritz on August 4, 1945 and raised three sons.
Dorothy started her medical profession as a reception at the emergency room at Salem Hospital. She worked several fulfilling years with Dr. Casterline and Dr. Holme in Keizer, making many friends throughout the years.
Dorothy was a member of the People’s Church in Salem continuing a life of strong faith.
Surviving are sons Bob (Susan), Don (Teresa) and Ron (Connie). Dorothy is also survived by six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 4th at 10 a.m. at Howell-Edwards-Doerksen Funeral Home, 1350 Commercial Street SE, Salem, with Pastor Scott Erickson officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Willamette Humane Society, PO Box 13005, Salem, OR 97309.
