She cheered and told stories of every accomplished goal and victory. She tirelessly worked for a clean and welcoming home. A domestic goddess who could spin a meal out of simple ingredients that fed a large family. She loved to laugh, tell stories and will be missed by an immeasurable amount…and then some.
Delores was the youngest of a family of thirteen in Grand Ronde. As the baby of the family, she witnessed many trials and tribulations, but always spoke of her family, especially her father, in loving and awed terms of their survival and accomplishments.
After graduating from Willamina High School she worked for the telephone company. Later she met Gearld, they married in 1958, and began a family that would grow into eight children. She made a home wherever they landed, drove every type of car Gearld sold, visited countless garage sales, and always made the best of a challenging situation. She worked at Bird’s Eye cannery for a short time in the early 1980s, but made many friends and had countless stories.
Delores and Gearld eventually settled in Dallas, OR and filled the house with memories. Sadly, Gearld passed in 2005 leaving Delores alone for the first time. Her children gifted her a car and a cell phone that became the key to a freedom she had not had since she was young. Her love of garage sales and thrift shops again commenced with deals, gifts and stories. A new spark had ignited and it attracted new friends and adventures.
Her favorite accomplishments were her flower gardens and her house’s knick knacks that all told a story. She was sassy and loved to tease and laugh (until she coughed uncontrollably). A special thanks to Barbra Streisand for creating the soundtrack to Delores’ life.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Gearld; beautiful boys, baby Gearld and Todd; remarkable parents, Lloyd and Josephine Weaver; brothers, Melvin “Bud” Weaver, Perry Weaver, Harlan Weaver, and Lloyd Weaver; sisters, Marie Wilhite, Lucy Layton, and Irene Shaw; and her loyal pets, Bingo, Chris, Michael, ET, and Willie.
She is survived by her children, Teresa (Denny) Fuller, Evelyn (David) de la O, Annette Michael, Sheila Michael, Bryan Michael, and Michelle Ryberg; sisters, Claire Kadel and JoAnn Knolle; dog, Baby; 11 grandchildren and many friends.
