He was born in San Francisco, California to Dave and Ada (Jerome) Jester on January 14, 1941. He graduated from Central High School in Independence, Oregon in 1959, where he was a letterman on the football team and was a member of DeMolay. After high school, he began college at Oregon College of Education (OCE). His schoolwork was interupted by a call to arms, and he enlisted in the US Air Force to fight in Vietnam. After his service in the Air Force and Air Force Reserves ended, Dave returned to OCE to receive his Masters of Science degree in Education. His lifelong career was in Law Enforcement.
On March 18th, 1984, Dave married the love of his life, Marjorie Lou Plumb (Wilson). He strove to build a beautiful home and life with her. They had a combined total of four children. Dave enjoyed helping people, truly taking care of his family, and fixing almost anything. He stayed physically active at the Courthouse Athletic Club in Salem well into his 70s, so he was fit enough to hike for weeks at a time in the mountains of Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. Dave was also a collector of tools, computer parts, flashlights and home improvement items, and he hated dancing.
He is survived by his dear wife, Margie; sisters, Irene Owens of Perryville, IL and Lorene Nowling of Deer Island, OR; children, Dana Stegner of Eugene, OR, Valerie Erfurt or Salem, OR, Dave Jester Jr. of Puyallup, WA, and Brad Plumb of Bend, OR; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Dave is preceded in death by his mother and father; brothers, Raymond Jester, Robert Jester, and Albert "Lee" Jester; and grandson, Nicholas Jester.
Dave is in the care of Howell, Edwards, Doerksen in Salem, Oregon. Please contact the funeral home for service information.
