Dan was born to his adoring parents, Terrence and Ann Houck, in Northridge, California, on December 22, 1956. He was the youngest of three children. Dan spent his younger years growing up in his family home in Woodland Hills before graduating from Huntington Beach High School in 1975 and setting out on his own. During that time, he found the start of his successful career in wastewater management, working for several different places in California, including Santa Margarita Water District.
While Dan's job could be demanding, he always made time to be a dedicated father to his two children, Amanda Jene (1992) & Terrence Daniel (1994). Both Amanda and Terry will tell you that their dad was a loving, hardworking, and devoted father who would do anything to help support or solve any problem they brought to him, no matter how big or small.
Dan took being a father and responsible employee seriously and still juggled his passions. One of them being sports. Dan was a sports fanatic. There was only one NFL team for Dan: The Oakland Raiders. Aside from the NFL and MLB seasons, Dan followed another season. Season of harvest. Dan was known for his extensive knowledge and impressive ability to grow top-quality marijuana. From seeds to drying, Dan worked diligently at his craft. When Dan wasn't tending to his plants, you could find him playing with his chocolate lab, Raider.
Although Dan is no longer with us, he lives on through the many beautiful memories and funny stories that will last beyond many lifetimes.
A celebration of Daniel "Dan" Houck's life will be held Friday, December 16, 2022 at 4:00 PM.
