October 7, 1924 – March 30, 2013
Carl was born and raised in Salem, Oregon. He married the love of his life, Emma Louise Hill, on June 16, 1948 and they spent 65 happy years together. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who helped Louise raise three children. The couple has 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Carl spent his whole working life in the food industry initially with Salem Sanitary Milk and later on through the local company Deluxe Ice Cream.
He enjoyed big band era music, and he appreciated the peace of the outdoors with fishing trips and vacations to Hawaii.
Survivors include wife, Louise Ostrin, and sons, Mike and Jim Ostrin, all of Salem, Oregon. Carl is preceded in death by son, Tom Ostrin.
Viewing to be held at Howell Edwards Funeral Home on Friday, April 5, 1-5pm. Chapel services will be held at Belcrest Mausoleum Chapel on Saturday, April 6, 1pm, for family and close friends.
