Paula was the hub of our lives and family. She raised three children, Hal (Sue), Andrew (Debbee), and David (Holly) to be independent and thoughtful men, in a happy and loving home in Swampscott, MA . Paula was previously married to her longtime friend Harold, who preceded her in death. She was grandmother to Samantha (Ron) Barhai, Laura (Blake) Forman, Noah (Lana) Mindel, Robert (Jesilynn) Mindel and Esme. She was especially proud of her three Great grandchildren, Corey, Cooper and just recently baby Eli. She leaves behind two loving sisters; Linda Lanes and Beverly Averback. Paula had four nephews whom she loved very much.
Paula was known for her laughter and ability to socialize with anyone. Young or old she always found a connection. But what she truly enjoyed was games. She loved to play bingo, poker, gin, whist, and canasta with her friends both in Florida and Massachusetts. She was even a three day champion on The Wheel of Fortune back in the early eighties. But her favorite game was Mahjong, and she was a master.
Paula was raised in Marblehead, MA by her loving parents Bertha and Charles Lanes. She later went on to become the owner operator of her family's printing company; Correct Printing in Chelsea, MA where she made many good friends and strong business relationships. In her retirement years she relocated to South Florida where again her outgoing, friendly manner made her many friends. She was very happy she was able to be close to her son Hal and his growing family but she always missed her New England heritage.
She was the matriarch of our family, and she will be dearly missed. A memorial service was held in Weston Fl at Temple Dor Dorim on Friday 9/20. A graveside burial & service will be held at Congregation Shirat Hayam Israel (Formerly Temple Israel Cemetery) at 506 Lowell St, Peabody, MA on Monday September, 23rd at 2:00pm. Friends and community are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the charity of your choice.
