SWAMPSCOTT – Mr. Harvey R. Greenberg, 78, of Swampscott, entered into rest Friday morning, February 20, 2015 at the Devereaux House in Marblehead. He was the beloved husband of Linda C. (Ross) Greenberg. Born in Malden, he was a graduate of Suffolk University and an honorably discharged veteran of the United State Army during the Korean Conflict.
Harvey had been employed as a successful salesman for many years.
Mr. Greenberg was a member of the National Maccabiah Men’s Volleyball Team; he represented the United States in Israel and was awarded the Bronze metal. He was an avid softball player and was a member of the Varley’s Softball Team in Lynn for many years. Harvey was a long standing member of Town Meetings and very vocal in his town’s politics. He enjoyed being a frequent writer to the Letter of the Editor for the Swampscott Reporter newspaper.
Harvey’s humor and being the life of the party will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a devoted grandfather.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three devoted daughters, Tami Bane of Swampscott, Toby Channen and her husband Jeffrey of Salem and Terri Miller of Swampscott; six cherished grandchildren, Harrison and Margaret, Haley and Brooks, Jacob, Rachel, Fredi and Jared. He will be deeply missed by his beloved dog, Louie. He was also the loving brother of the late Howard Greenberg.
Harvey’s funeral service will be held at the Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin Street, SALEM on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at 11 AM. Interment at Pride of Lynn Cemetery, Lynn. Memorial observance following the interment on Sunday until 8 PM and on Monday from 1-4 and 6-8 PM at his late residence. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Friends of Marblehead’s Abandoned Animals, 44 Village Street, Marblehead, MA 01945 or to the Wounded Warrior Project
