A native of Swampscott, Ellen was the mother of four boys: Gedalia “Gadi” Niram (who, she would not hesitate to tell you, was once named Jeffrey), David McKeough, Alan McKeough, and Craig McKeough. They were privileged to tend to her during her last days, returning the lifetime of boundless, unconditional love with which she showered them.
Ellen was a member of the first class of women to graduate from Bentley University. She enjoyed a varied and fulfilling career as an accountant, notably in her longtime role at Aggregate Industries. She was an active builder of community, most recently as an officer of the Social Club at Ocean Shores Apartments.
In addition to her boys, Ellen leaves behind daughters-in-law Nicole DiStefano, Leslie McKeough, and Dabiele McKeough; sisters-in-law Joan Kelley and Diana Weinstein; her cherished grandchildren Dillon and Sydney McKeough (pictured with her above); her nieces Lisa Kelley Young and Emily Weinstein; and her nephews Brian Kelley, Philip Weinstein, and Peter Weinstein. She also leaves many other family members and dear friends.
Ellen was predeceased by her sweet, loving parents, Emanuel “Manny” Weinstein and Sylvia (Marcus) Weinstein, and by her siblings Janice, Debbie, and Michael. She has long looked forward to reuniting with them.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 16 at 11:00 am at Congregation Shirat Hayam, 55 Atlantic Ave, Swampscott, MA 01907. The family will sit shiva until 8:00 pm that night at the house of Diana Weinstein. The family will continue to gather at the house on Friday and Saturday from 1 pm to 8 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Greater Boston Food Bank, gbfb.org.
