Elaine Locke

PEABODY – Elaine (Robinson) Locke, 98 years, of Peabody, formerly of Marblehead, entered into rest on May 26 at the Aviv Centers for Living in Peabody. She was the beloved wife of the late Jacob Locke. Born in New York, NY, she was the beloved daughter of the late Louis H. and Lillian (Hoffman) Robinson. She was a graduate of Columbia University.

Mrs. Locke had been employed at Lord and Thomas Advertising Agency, Peck Advertising Agency and Look Magazine in New York City. She also worked at the Old State House, the Jewish Vocational Service and the Language Clinic at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Elaine was a member of the Temple Sinai Sisterhood, the Boston Aid to the Blind and ORT. She was the Program Chairman for the Insight Club, a volunteer for the Marblehead Community Counseling Center and a Massachusetts State Poetry Society member.

She is survived by her devoted son, Bennett Locke and his wife Judith of Swampscott; her loving brother, Raymond K. Robinson and his wife Phyllis of New York City and four cherished grandchildren, Andrew and his fiancé Arielle, Jennifer and Julie Locke. Mrs. Locke is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Funeral Services at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin Street, Salem on May 27, at 12:30 pm. Interment at Tifereth Israel of New Everett Cemetery, Everett. Memorial observance will be held at the home of Judith and Bennett Locke. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary or an organization of your choice.
