David Altshuler of Peabody passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2022. He is survived by his sister, Deborah (James) Effron and nieces, Jill Effron (Jonathan Zemlak) and Melissa (Ryan) Grashow and his great niece and nephews, Avery and Logan Zemlak and Carter and Jackson Grashow. He was the son of the late Evelyn and Norman Altshuler. He also leaves behind his devoted friends, Carla Lamb, Paul Krasnow, Edgar Dworsky, Bob Ciotti and Brian Farmer.
David graduated from Peabody High School and received his undergraduate and MBA degrees from Northeastern University. He was a print and catalogue model and a background actor and stand-in for movies that were filmed in the Boston area. David was a tennis professional and was the Tennis Director at Nahant Country Club. David was dedicated to the Jimmy Fund and was the Director of the Tennis Portion of The Jimmy Fund Golf and Tennis Classic for 29 years raising over a million dollars for the Jimmy Fund. In 2008 he received the Jimmy Fund “Man of the Year” award and in 2009 he was awarded the “Lessons for Life” Award from the United States Professional Tennis Association and he was the recipient of the International Humanitarian Award.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 7th at 10 am at the Maple Hill Cemetery, 98 Canterbury Road, Peabody.
In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Center Institute in memory of David Altshuler to support cancer research and patient care.
