Karen was one of a kind, which was obvious to everyone who knew her. She was a loyal friend, willing to look past flaws and differences in order to support those she cared about. The world lost a true blessing when Karen passed away, and I just know that she is sitting in a place of honor in Heaven. Mr and Mrs Pelto, thank you so much for sharing her with us for a time. I miss her so much.

Karen was a wonderful and kind, gentle person.. she was in the group of friends I was in and always had kind things to say or tease one of us. The group at Saint Paul Central Sr. will miss and continue to love you. She was a beautiful individual and will be sorely missed. Rest in peace friend!

I am heart broken to read his now. Karen read the verses at my wedding. She always had a smile and was one of the best friends I had. A while back I ran into her at Barnes and noble and asked how she was doing. She said " oh, I don't know, I tell them never to tell me the odds." That's how she was, always moving forward the best she could. I can't believe I didn't know in time to come to her funeral but I will miss her dearly. I had Russian class and rode the same bus from the East Side with Karen during all four years of high school, and remember her as a kind, witty, and authentic person. In recent years I would run into her every so often at the bookstore where she worked, where those same qualities were still on display. Hard to believe it was just in May when I last saw her. My sympathies go out to her parents and other friends. Rest in peace, Yanichka (her Russian class name).

I just recently learned of Karen's passing!  She and I were friends when we attended Saint Paul Central Sr.  She was always there for her friends.  I'll never forget the time I raced to the nurses office from lunch because I wasn't feeling well.  She kindly brought my things to me and asked the nurse if she could sit with me and keep me company until my mom came to pick me up.

My prayers are with Don and Carol on the loss of their daughter Karen.  When I came to church, Karen was the one who made me feel and home and as I told her many times, she reminded me to the Velveteen Bunny... a real person, not a faky person.  I will miss her very much as there are very few people that are like her.

Karen was a wonderful person and very good friend. I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Please know that my thoughts go with you in these difficult times.

One of Karen's best survival tips was: Always carry a deck of cards with you. That way if you ever get lost, you can sit down and start playing solitaire. There will always be someone who comes along to tell you, "You can put that one card on another card!"
