

Rich Tanner peacefully passed away Sunday, March 6 after several weeks at Mercy Hospital. Rich was born in St. Louis on July 15, 1935 to Bonnie and Virgil Tanner. He was their oldest son.
He graduated from Roosevelt High School in St. Louis and served in the Navy Reserves. He and his wife, Hildegarde were married on August 28, 1996 and resided in the Arnold area. They were active members on the local Eagles Club.
Rich loved fishing, hunting, sports and being outdoors. He enjoyed travelling and his trips with his wife to her home in Germany were a highlight.
He is preceded by his parents, sister, Betty Broccard and brother, Ron. His survivors include: his wife, Hildegard; his children, Rick (Valarie) Tanner, Lynn (Tom) Ott, Laura Rector, Tracey (Kyle); stepchildren, Donnie (Teri) Dones, Michelle (Kenny) Bradley, Joe Downs & Tina; 18 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren; his cousin Larry Poling who is like a brother to him; nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Rich will be held Friday, March 11, 2022 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Hoffmeister South County Chapel, 1515 Lemay Ferry Road, St. Louis, MO 63125. A funeral service will follow Friday, at 11:30 AM at Hoffmeister, followed by a committal service at Mt Hope Cemetery on the same property.
