Dr. Webb was born in St. Louis on June 28, 1925 and served honorably with the 110th Infantry Regiment, 28th Division, in WWII and saw combat in both the Battle of Hürtgen Forest and the Battle of the Bulge. Following Dr. Webb’s service to his country, he earned his medical degree from St. Louis University in 1952 and completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Indiana University in 1956. Dr. Webb was in private practice in St. Louis for 37 years, retiring in 1992. In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Webb was on staff at Lutheran Medical Center and St. Louis University, where he also served as an assistant clinical professor of Ophthalmology. He was a life-long member of the St. Louis Medical Society.
Dr. Webb is preceded in death by his father Paul B. Webb Sr. MD, his mother Adela (nee Glossmeyer) Webb, and sister Patricia Riley. In addition to his wife Bessie (nee Brenneisen) Webb of 69 years, he is survived by seven sons, Paul, David (Kathy), Stephen, Richard, Timothy (Maria) all of St Louis, Matthew (Lucy) of Concord, CA, Kevin (Sue) of Glen Carbon, IL; two daughters, Diane (Greg) Leek and Patricia Heard both of St. Louis; 23 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; his brother Donald of St. Louis; and his sister Kathryn Schicker of Houston, TX. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
SERVICE: A remembrance Mass will be held at St. Gabriel The Archangel Catholic Church on Tuesday, June 28, 10:00am followed by full military honors. A funeral Mass and internment at St. Peter & Paul Cemetery will be celebrated at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Gabriel’s parish or the Men’s White House Jesuit Retreat Center.
