SCANLON, John Joseph, born January 19, 1928 to Edward J. Scanlon, Sr. and Beatrice Born, passed away on August 5, 2012, at the age of 84. John served three years in the U.S. Air Force and he retired in 1986 from Monsanto Company, where he worked for 40 years in printing and office management. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Melba June (Slusher), of almost 60 years; children, Kathleen Glynn, Donna (Pete) Carrara, Michele (Kevin) McCarty, Theresa (Tim) Kiely, Victoria (Tom) VanAcker, Patrick (Jill) Scanlon, Daniel Scanlon, and Kelly Smith; grandchildren Jason, Jamie, Matthew, Jennifer (Matt), Thomas, Bradley (Meredith), Katie (Robbie), Allison, Rachel, Danielle, Chelsea and Samantha; great grandchildren Claire, Noah, Stella and Hailey; sisters Virginia Wilde and Eileen Jerger; brothers George, James, and Joseph; as well as sisters/brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends. John is preceded in death by his brothers Edward and Eugene; and sister, Mary Carol Scanlon, C.P.P.S.
Visitation Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Hoffmiester Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa, St. Louis, MO 63109, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Funeral Wednesday, August 8, 2012, from Hoffmeister at 10:15am then proceeding to Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 5020 Rhodes Ave., St. Louis, MO 63109 for 11:00 a.m. Mass.
