BARGE, Jesse Lee, 89, fortified with the sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Thursday, May 26, 2016. Beloved husband of Mary A. (nee Audrain) Barge; loving father of Jesse (Cindy) Barge, John (Patti) Barge, Leila (Glenn) Calkins, Bill (Amy) Barge, and Mike (Kris Stuteville) Barge; dear grandfather of Jesse Barge, Maggi (nee Barge) Rimel and Jake (Lisa) Barge, Shane Calkins, Alexandria Barge and Colin Barge, Jared (Ashley) Stuteville, Elizabeth Greiner, and Josh Stuteville; great grandfather of Jesse Barge, Gabriel Rimel, Olivia and Stella Barge, Leslie Ann Stuteville, and Emma Greiner; dear cousin, uncle, and friend to many.
Son of the late Jesse H. and Leila R. (nee O'Connor) Barge, Jesse was born in Wellston. An avid sports fan in general, Mizzou held a special place in his heart. Following his service to his country in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II, he earned his Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Accounting in 1950 and 1951 and was a member of the National Association of Accountants (NAA). In the late 1950's and early 1960's, he was a Deputy and Traffic Court Judge for Vinita Terrace. His years as a young man in the Boy Scouts, where he was a member of the Order of the Arrow, carried over to his oldest two sons. He was a Cub Pack Assistant Leader at Vinita Park Methodist Church and Assistant Scout Master with Troop #287 at St. Rita. Jesse and Mary enjoyed travelling with the Elderberries at All Souls Catholic Church. He was an excellent card player, enjoying Rummy and Cribbage especially.
SERVICES: Mass of Christian Burial 9:30am Tuesday, May 31, 2016 St. Richard’s Catholic Church 11223 Schuetz Rd., St. Louis, MO 63146. Please join the family in O’Brien Hall for a luncheon immediately following Mass. Procession 12:15pm from the church to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery for 1pm Burial. Memorial contributions suggested to the St. Richard's Catholic Church or to the Humane Society.
