Marjorie “Jean” Montgomery (nee Harrison), 91, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Marguerite Harrison; her husband, Eugene Montgomery; a son, Howard Montgomery; and two sisters, Diane Harrison and Robin Southworth. Jean is survived by her children, Karen Clavenna, Kevin Montgomery (Cyndee and her children, Michelle and Nicole), and Darrel (Karen) Montgomery; grandchildren, Sean, Christopher, Samantha, Robert, David, and Joe; great grandchildren, Lewis and M. J.; and sister, Sharon (Bob) Templeton. Dear cousin, aunt, and friend of many.
Jean loved her community of Berkeley and was very active socially and politically. She served as Mayor and Council Woman of the Berkeley community, was a State Representative, and ran for the Senate. Jean was a 4H leader and enjoyed teaching children to sew and cook. She was a talented seamstress. She and Eugene loved to go dancing and she enjoyed some quiet time in her garden planting. Jean earned a Bachelor’s Degree and attended the University of MO in Columbia and UMSL. Her strong will and bright spirit will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure to have known her.
A committal service to honor Jean’s life will be held at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery on Friday, June 26, 2020 at 1 p.m. where she will be laid to rest beside her husband.
