Francis A. "Frank" McGarvey, of St. Louis, MO passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on February 27, 2016 at the age of 87 after an extended illness. Loving husband of Jean (nee Hartman) McGarvey; beloved son of the late Loren and Helen (nee Anderson) McGarvey; devoted father of Bruce (Elena) McGarvey; dear brother of the late Donald (Patricia) McGarvey and the late Fern (the late Bill) Terry. Frank is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Frank was born on August 31, 1928 in Maryland Heights, MO. He attended Maryland Heights School and graduated from the 8th grade. He married his sweetheart, Jean Hartman, of 65+ years on January 24, 1951. Frank was employed at Alco Valve for 49 years as a stock and receiving clerk in the coil and receiving department.
He loved his family and took them on many vacations. They vacationed in Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, and many other states over the years and enjoyed the great outdoors. He enjoyed weekends on Lake Tishomingo where he boated and fished with his family. His many talents included playing the trumpet at church. One of his favorite hobbies included the restoration of vintage cars. Frank will be greatly missed by his many family members and friends.
Friends may visit from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at the Pentecostal Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ, 12323 Ladue Rd., Creve Coeur, MO 63141. A funeral service to honor his life will be held on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the church with a reception to follow. The Rev Ernest Dumaresq, Kenneth Anderson, and Rev Jared Runck will officiate. All are welcome to attend, reminisce, and celebrate Frank's life.
