Forrest Samuel Lawson Stumborg, 92, of St. Peters, MO passed away on Monday, October 5, 2015. He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl K. Lawson and Pearl (nee Slinkard) Lawson and is survived by his devoted wife of 73 years, Mildred Mae (nee Carlyle) Stumborg; two daughters, Karen McKay and Pamela Bryan; 4 grandchildren, Kimberly (Patrick) Bauer, Kyle (Jill) McKay, Garry Bryan, and Jennifer (John) Gornet; and 13 great grandchildren, Samantha, Danielle, Gracelyn, Alexandra, Nathan, Lucas, Lauren, Tyler, Margarita, Joshua, Andrew, Nathaniel, and Samuel.
Forrest was a proud army veteran of World War II who ranked PFC, MP and was in the 41st Infantry stationed in the Philippines. He was a member of the VFW in O’Fallon, MO. Forrest retied from more than 30 years with General Motors in August of 2000 but remained very active. After retirement, he helped local automotive dealerships with car transport. He and Mildred owned a ceramic business and square danced with other family members in the “First Capitol Squares” group. He loved needlepoint, quilting, and gardening and was very proud of his tomato plants. He enjoyed Cardinal baseball too. Forrest was a frugal man who played the lottery and participated in sweepstakes whenever he could. He was always searching for the winning ticket to carry him through life because he was planning on living forever! He was a cantankerous man but loved his wife and family very much. His strong spirit will certainly be missed.
Friends may visit on Monday, October 19, 2015 from 10 a.m. until time of service at noon at Alexander-White-Mullen Funeral Home, 11101 St. Charles Rock Rd., St. Ann, MO 63074. Pastor Jeremy Plymale will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the American Heart Association, the National Kidney Foundation, or Alzheimer's/Dementia Awareness programs.
