He had a long career at McDonnell Aircraft and McDonnell-Douglas where he worked on the Voodoo and Phantom II aircraft programs, the early manned space programs including Mercury, Gemini, Skylab, and Space Shuttle, and on the unmanned NASA Modular Power Subsystem. AJ also served honorably in the US Army from 1956 to 1958 as a military intelligence specialist.
AJ enjoyed bird watching, fishing, and gardening. He always looked forward to his trout fishing trip every year with his friends at Lake Taneycomo. AJ also enjoyed some quiet times watching hummingbirds and woodpeckers in his yard. His grandson, August A., was the light of his life and they had many fun times together. AJ left a big mark in this world and he will be missed.
