Janice Carol Scott

Janice Carol Scott, 69, of St. Albans, went to be with the Lord on Feb. 8, 2015 at home surrounded by her loved ones after a long, courageous battle with cancer. She was one of the strongest women we know and will be forever missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Oleta Dawson of Wallback. Janice grew up in Wallback and married Jarrell Scott on Aug. 17, 1964. They were married for 50 years. She was retired from BB&T. Janice enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter, Addison, who was the light of her life. She also enjoyed traveling, house remodeling and spending time with her family. She is survived by her loving husband, Jarrell Scott; her sons, J.R. and wife, Christy Scott, of St. Albans and MAJ Jason Scott of Tacoma, Wash.; grandchildren, Derrick and Dawson Scott of St. Albans, Brandon Scott of St. Albans, Jessica Scott of Barboursville and great-granddaughter, Addison Shamblin of St. Albans. She’s also survived by brothers, Junior (Donna) Dawson and Virgil Dawson; sisters, Avis (Cecil) Birthisel and Vera (Todd) Boggs; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank Dr. Cohen for the many years of treatment and wonderful care. They would also like to thank the Hospice nurses who were so helpful and caring during Janice’s last days here on earth. Celebration of Janice’s life will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, at Casdorph & Curry Funeral Home, St. Albans, with Pastor Mike Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans. Gathering of family and friends will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice.
