Wally was born February 2, 1930 in Menz Township, North Dakota and passed away peacefully on June 3, 2015 at Kaiser Hospital, Sacramento, CA.
Wally is survived by his current wife of 14 years, Bonita “Bonnie” Dahl of Rancho Murieta, son John Gayton and daughter-in-law, Carolyn Gayton, granddaughter Jennifer Alessio and her husband John Alessio, grandson Richard Gayton and his wife, Rachelle Gayton, four great grandchildren: Jack and Juliana Alessio and Samantha and Elias Gayton, and sister Joann Nation of Scottsdale Arizona. Wally was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years Ann Mary Gayton and son Richard A. Gayton.
Wally was a journeyman electrician and 62 year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was an avid bowler, hunter and fisherman, and was active in the Boy Scouts of America and Knights of Columbus during the 1960’s. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father grandfather and mentor his entire life. He will be greatly missed by all.
A visitation will be held on Thur., June 11th from 4-6pm at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home, 5401 Folsom Blvd. The Funeral Mass will be on Fri., June 12th at 11am in the chapel of Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 7101 Verner Ave.
