Thomas Samuel Agosta Jr.

Thomas S. Agosta, Jr. was born on August 10, 1933 in Sacramento, CA. He passed away on January 6, 2024 in Elk Grove, CA at the age of 90. Thomas is survived by his wife Joyce, daughter Elizabeth, son Frankie, daughter-in-law Sallie, and grandchildren Kaitlin Agosta, Nick Agosta, and Jake Agosta. He was brother to the late Jess Agosta and the late Frank Agosta. He attended Sacramento High School and was a star athlete. In 1951, Thomas graduated high school and signed with the Sacramento Solons which was the beginning of his professional baseball career. Two years later, he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served 2 years and was honorably discharged. In 1956, Thomas married his high school sweetheart Joyce and continued his baseball career. In 1964, he joined the Sacramento City Fire Department and served 28 years before retiring. Thomas enjoyed family gatherings and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He loved spending time with his family, friends, neighbors, and pets. He will be missed by all of us.

A visitation for Thomas will be held Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Nicoletti, Culjis & Herberger Funeral Home, 5401 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95819. A funeral service will occur Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM, 5401 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95819. A committal service will occur Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at St Mary Cemetery & Funeral Center, 6509 Fruitridge Rd, Sacramento, CA 95820.
