Terry attended grade school in East Palo Alto, CA and graduated from Memorial High School in Newark, CA. While inJunio High and High school, he was proficient in multiple instruments including drums, bass guitar, piano, lead guitar along with a gifted voice singing. He also taught music to young students, and had a tremendous impact on multiple generations of musicians. Terry moved from San Jose, CA to Sacramento, CA in 1984, and joined All Nations COGIC under the leadership of Pastor Itaska Hollins, Sr. He was the choir director and Lead musician. He was often requested to play at other churches around the city. Terry along with his Father and brothers started singing and playing their musical instruments at New Sweet Home COGIC. When Elder Jones was on the road Terry would not play his instrument right and mom would let Daddy know when he came home. Elder Jones would get on him and tell him, "You better start playing correctly or you gonna get a whopping!" Whenever they would play and Terry began to lag, Elder Jones would holla' to Terry, "You better come out of that hole!" And that's just what he did!
In 1967 Elder Jones allowed the boys to play with "Johnny Evans & the Fantastic Jones Brothers. They had to add the "Fantastic Jones Brothers!" He was a part of many musical groups and formed the musical group "The JCT" also known as the "Jesus Christ Team." Tery played with The Leggett Brothers, The Motivators, The WD's, The Jones Boys and Sons of Salvation. In 2009 with his father, Elder Leon Jones, along with is brothers they made their first CD, "Keep on Serving the Lord."
Terry accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior while attending New Sweet Home COGIC, under the leadership of Pastor Dan Macklin.
In 2019, Terry married the love of his life Michele Nash-Jones, they resided in Sacramento, CA with their daughter Cierra. Preceding his passing are his parents, Leon T. Jones, Augusta Jones and brother Leon Jones, Jr. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Michele Nash-Jones, Daughter Cierra, his mother Earnestine Jones, sister Lorraina Jones, brother Rodrick Frazier (Angela Cotton); Nephews, Leon III, Josh, Rodrick, Jeffrey; Nieces, Denay, Carmen, Jennifer, Kayla, and a host of cousins and friends.
